Brighton Portrait Photography Workshops
I'm Hosting Portrait Photography Workshops in Brighton This Year.
For me, portrait photography has never just been about the technical. It’s about presence. And that’s what I want to share.
Brighton has such a strong independent creative spirit. It feels like the perfect place to build something small, honest and collaborative.
This year, I’ll be opening up my process. After years of photographing people, actors, business owners, creatives, I’ve decided to host a series of portrait photography workshops here in Brighton. Not large, impersonal training days. Small, thoughtful sessions built around connection, light, and honest portraiture.
Why I’m Doing This
Over the years, I’ve refined the way I work.
- How I settle someone in front of the camera.
- How I use light in a minimal, intentional way.
- How I guide expression without over-directing.
- How I keep images feeling contemporary, but not trend-led.
Other photographers have asked about the process behind the work, the decisions that aren’t always obvious from the final frame. Hosting workshops feels like the right next step. Not to “teach formulas,” but to share the thinking behind the images.
What These Workshops Will Focus On
These won’t be gear-heavy technical masterclasses. They’ll be centred around people.
We’ll explore:
- Building trust quickly with your subject
- Reading subtle shifts in expression
- Using natural light with intention
- Creating portraits that feel calm and enduring
- Directing without overpowering
- Keeping your style consistent without becoming repetitive
I’m planning to keep these workshops small, 4 or 5 photographers maximum. That way everyone gets time shooting, asking questions, and receiving honest feedback.
Who These Workshops Are For
These sessions are for photographers who:
- Feel technically capable but want stronger connection in their portraits
- Want their work to feel more refined and intentional
- Are developing a personal style and want clarity
- Prefer small group, thoughtful learning over big production events
Why It Matters to Me
Teaching forces you to articulate what you believe.
For me, that belief is simple: portrait photography is about attention. When someone feels seen, it shows in the image.
If I can help other photographers build that confidence, that calm presence behind the camera, then the workshop becomes more than a training day. It becomes a creative turning point.
What’s Next
I’ll be announcing dates soon, with limited spaces for each session.
If you’d like to be the first to hear about upcoming workshop dates, get in touch directly. Send me a message on the contact page or enter your details below and I’ll be in touch.
I’m genuinely looking forward to opening up the process this year and building something small, focused and inspiring here in Brighton.
